About Charlee Asaiah
Helloooooooooooo!!!!
My name is Charlee and I am an actress, playwright, and multimedia artist who captures the relatable complexities of the human experience.
In my acting, I portrays the brutally honest confidants to the cunning
antagonist that we love to hate.
I found my passion for acting at the age of 9 knowing that I wanted to be a storyteller. No matter what I was doing, I wanted to tell a story. Whether that was making an interesting play in middle school as I played basketball or to evoke emotion as I was on the stage doing theater. This passion has been something that has followed me throughout my life.
As I began acting classes at the age of 9 I made the decision to leave the stage and pursue sports in middle school, because I has to choose. I never felt like doing sports such as basketball, volleyball, track & field, and cheerleading never betrayed my love for storytelling but fortified it. I found that in sports there is a story you are telling with your team and the audience who is watching. There is repetition, intense training, and actions that move like words.
However, in highschool I decided to return to the stage. I took acting classes again and in my senior year I was able to work with the Atlantic Theater Company through their staging success program. In this program, I explored what it meant to be a playwright and an actor performing in an Off-Broadway show and from that moment on I knew what I had to do.
I decided to get my BFA in Multimedia Performing Arts and a minor in Black Studies in college. And this is where I learned to endure, continually work on my craft, and learn so much about my cultural history and background. Through multimedia I was able to see how I can push storytelling in a digital world and age. And through my Black studies minor, I was able to learn about many Black storytellers and tell my own stories that mean so much to me.
After graduating , very recently in May 2024. I now continue to fuel my passion as an intern on Broadway as I navigate the post-grad world and find my way as an up and coming actor.
